The Key to Revival: Knowing God, Not Just His Power.

"The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." - Habakkuk 2:14

There's a promise waiting to be fulfilled. Two thousand years ago, on the Day of Pentecost, God poured out His Spirit on all people—just as Joel prophesied. The power has been given. The Holy Spirit has been released. Yet many of us are still waiting, still asking God to do what He's already done.

Imagine buying your spouse their dream car, parking it in the driveway with the keys and title in their name—only to wake up the next morning to them asking, "When are you going to get me a car?" That's exactly what we do with God. We keep asking for what He's already freely given.

The Real Disconnect

If God has already poured out His Spirit, why aren't we seeing the transformation we expect? Why does the church still seem powerless in many ways? The answer is simple but challenging: we have the power, but we lack the knowledge.

Scripture tells us that Moses knew God's ways, but the people only knew His acts. There's a massive difference. When you only know God's acts—the miracles, the provision, the blessings—your faith becomes a rollercoaster. Everything is fine when God performs, but the moment trouble comes, you're ready to quit.

But when you know His ways—when you understand His character, His heart, His voice—you can stand firm regardless of circumstances.

Knowledge Versus Power

Most of us chase power when we should be chasing relationship. We want the spectacular demonstrations, the dramatic breakthroughs, the visible miracles. But God is looking for people who simply want to know Him.

Think about it: would you marry someone who only wanted you for what you could do for them? That's how we often approach God—excited about His blessings, but not particularly interested in His presence.

The Bible makes this clear: those who know their God will do great exploits. Not those who know His acts, but those who know Him. Knowledge truly is power, but we've been seeking power without pursuing the knowledge that produces it.

The Simple Path We Complicate

Here's the irony: getting to know God isn't complicated. When Naaman was told to dip in the Jordan River for healing, he almost refused because it seemed too simple. His servant wisely asked, "If the prophet had told you to do something difficult, wouldn't you have done it? Why won't you do this simple thing?"

We do the same thing. Read the Word? "No, that can't be it—it's too simple." Spend time in prayer? "There must be something more complex to unlock God's power." But the truth is straightforward: God gave us His Word so we could know Him. People literally died so you could have a Bible in your language, yet we debate versions instead of actually reading it.

If God can't trust you with the written Word in front of you, how can He trust you with His whispered voice in your ear?

The Revival We're Waiting For

Revival isn't waiting on another outpouring. It's waiting on a people who will pursue the knowledge of God's glory until it fills them completely. Before the earth can be filled with the knowledge of His glory, we must be filled first.

The disconnect between what God has given and what we're experiencing will only close when we stop clamoring for power and start cultivating relationship. When we stop treating God like a cosmic vending machine and start drawing close to know His heart.

You are positioned for this moment. But the question remains: will you pursue knowing God Himself, or will you keep settling for just knowing what He can do?

The power is already yours. Now go after the knowledge that will unlock it.
